Nikki de León (*1987) is a visual artist with an architectural background, currently working and living in Cologne, Germany.
Her works create places shaped by light and shadow - deal with biography and memories, translated into her own geometric language: an architecture of memory made of emotion, abstraction, surface, form and color. Her own style is inspired by the geometric formal language of constructivism, the flatness of the hard edge and the linear architecture of the mid-century. Her working methods and approach are also influenced by architecture, especially in her choice of materials: the first sketches are made in several layers on tracing paper. In this early phase, she worked with ink, calligraphy pen and chalk, later with acrylic on canvas, exclusively freehand.
